LPG is extremely safe: it has been used for many years in devices with LPG cylinders. As a fuel, LPG is safer than petrol (conclusion of the Danish Research Institute “TNO”).
The tanks and devices installed in cars are tested at high pressures, are certified according to the strictest quality standards and have multiple safety valves.
The flow of LPG is interrupted if a fault occurs in any part of the system, or when the engine is not running. If the vehicle catches fire, the pressure in the tank is controlled via expansion valves, in order to prevent its destruction.
In the event of a possible leak, the gas is dispersed into the environment and does not accumulate in the surrounding area like liquid fuels.
The LPG system does not communicate with the interior of the vehicle.
